2024: A year of growth collaboration and creativity

As 2025 starts, we’re looking back on a year filled with milestones. 2024 sure had a lot to offer, from collaborations to new beginnings. Here’s a month-by-month recap of Bloom Creative's achievements last year and a celebration of the incredible people, projects and progress that made it all possible.

January - Bett Show

We kicked off the year heading down to London ExCeL for Bett Show - always an important date in the calendar for two of our clients, SalamanderSoft and Cloud Design Box

This year, we teamed up with Yensen Studio and worked with SalamanderSoft to capture video testimonials and interviews with SalamanderSoft's clients. We also documented the day with candid team shots, headshots, and additional content showcasing SalamanderSoft’s impact in the EdTech space.

February - Cracking on with content

Since January was full of content and action, we needed February to complete our 2024 plans and get all that prep work in motion. This included meeting with a fellow creative in the industry, Emilie, who has also felt the isolating effects of being a creative freelancer in a post-lockdown world. We grabbed a coffee and chatted, not realising how much this would change the year!

March - Creative Hearts Club

March was a significant month for us as it marked the launch of the Creative Hearts Club, a community initiative designed to connect and inspire creatives. The first meetup, held at Brew in Hull, was a resounding success, setting the stage for something truly special.

Co-founder Courtney's thoughts:

“I kicked off the year feeling pretty stuck - working from home, isolated, burnt out and uninspired. But the Creative Hearts Club helped me realise that I wasn’t alone. From just a few people to sell-out events, fulfilling this need that so many people had been crying out for really blew me away. I ended the year feeling inspired by all the incredible creatives I’ve met - from illustrators and bakers to harpists and makers.”

Co-founder Emilie’s thoughts:

"Being a creative professional is so much easier when you have friends who understand your struggles, that's what the Creative Hearts Club is. I can't explain how inspired I feel after these events, I come away buzzing with ideas and excitement for the next step in my career."

Creative Hearts Club's unforeseen success in stats:

  • 9 creative meet-ups: 7 networking events and 2 content days

  • 167 tickets sold to our free events

  • 95 visitors became regulars

  • 71 signed our attendance board!

  • 30+ hours of chatting, with many people staying after-hours

  • A 1200+ growing community

April - 5 years of Bloom

We celebrated an incredible milestone this month: five years since Bloom Creative became a Limited Company. It was a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and to dream about the future.

Reaching our fifth anniversary as a company has been a moment of both celebration and reflection - a chance to realign with our core values and refine our vision for the future.

”Bloom Creative began as a personal journey. I started out as a freelance copywriter, working across a variety of industries. Over time, I discovered my passion for partnering with purpose-driven founders - those building technology with people and the planet in mind,” says Courtney, Founder of Bloom Creative.

”The past five years have been an incredible journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs. We've navigated a global pandemic, an economic downturn, and countless learning curves. But through it all, we've remained committed to what matters most: supporting visionary founders and creating meaningful work.”

As we look to the future, our purpose is stronger than ever, and we're excited to continue growing alongside the inspiring individuals and businesses we serve.

May - Expanding our team

In May, we welcomed Emilie Beatrice, an organic social media specialist, to Bloom Creative to collaborate on several client projects. Emilie’s expertise has been a fantastic addition to our team, helping us elevate client campaigns with meaningful, engaging social strategies.

Emilie supports us with creating social media content (captions, graphics, and ideation) for several clients. Her support helped Bloom Creative to grow as we expanded our client base through continued growth and success.

June - Creative Growth Programme

We were thrilled to join the Creative Growth Programme, a Hull and East Yorkshire initiative supporting local businesses' creative journeys.

Bloom Creative Director Courtney Farrow participated in the 12-week inaugural cohort of Creative Growth Hull and East Yorkshire. Designed to support ambitious, growth-orientated creative businesses, the Creative Growth Programme promises advice and support for growing and accessing external investment. July - Welcoming new clients

This month, we officially brought Bombiix on board as a retainer client after working with them on various smaller projects over the years.

Bombiix, a software solution designed to improve transparency in the supply chain for a more ethical garment industry, aligns perfectly with our mission to support purpose-led founders.

Our commitment to purpose-led values is not just a statement, but a practice that we uphold in our client partnerships, as seen in our work with Bombiix.

August - Signed our studio lease

We signed the lease for our new office with Allenby Commercial  at the Danish Buildings in Hull’s Old Town. This move represents more than just a location change; it’s a commitment to heritage, creativity, and collaboration. Read all about our move here.

We also attended the Leeds Digital Festival, with notable mentions for Sustainable Storytelling Live and GreenTech Gathering.

September - For Entrepreneurs Only

This month, we started the FEO (For Entrepreneurs Only) 360 Programme, designed to support local businesses' growth journeys. In her freelance days, Courtney joined the FEO Ignition course in 2016, which played a pivotal role in helping her secure her first clients and eventually launch Bloom Creative, so going back felt like the next step in Bloom Creative’s growth. Read more about our experience here.

FEO Class of 2025

Creative Hearts Club hosted a content creation workshop at Koffee Lab with an impromptu social media breakdown from regular attendees. This was when we unexpectedly saw the Creative Hearts Club's effects on some of our regular members, from quiet wallflowers to confident public speakers.

October - Supporting creatives in Hull

October was a milestone for the Creative Hearts Club. We partnered with Juice Studios for our biggest event yet.

  • With 30+ creatives in attendance and a total reach of 110 participants across all events, Creative Hearts Club is thriving.

  • We celebrated six months of Creative Hearts Club meetups hosted at Brew, The Brain Jar, Dive, and now Juice Studios.

Additionally, Courtney Farrow was invited by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) to meet local MP Emma Hardy to discuss the role of small businesses in our community.

“I got to speak with Emma Hardy about the challenges of small businesses in the city and how we can support our local and independents. I loved meeting various businesses and hearing everyone's passion for their work and Hull as a city. With so many ideas flying around the room (and the city in general), I'm very excited to see what 2025 and beyond hold.”

November - Rebrand

We unveiled Bloom Creative’s new rebrand. We have always had strong ideals about where we worked, but our rebrand truly helped to solidify these values in a fresh approach to content creation that is genuinely HEART-led:

🧠 Human | Speaking in your audience's language

🌱 Enriching | Packed with value and insight

🧡 Authentic | Mirroring your brand's mission

🌍 Responsible | Sustainable strategies that work for people and planet

🤓 Trusted | Rigorously researched, reliable and credible storytelling

"The brief for Bloom Creative's rebrand was to curate an elevated, matured, yet bold and disruptive visual identity that reflects the evolution of their brand ethos and clientele. Combining a typographic serif style for a 'writer's edge' and an expressive yet cohesive brand palette, the new design embodies professionalism and approachability while offering the versatility and adaptability needed to remain on-brand across Bloom's digital and physical assets." - Danielle Jensen, Yensen Studio

December - Prepping for 2025

As the year winds down, there were a few more networking events to attend, including attending the Freedom Festival Arts Trust event. This event opened the opportunity to follow up with Dan Watts at Elephant in the Room Disability Services to discuss how we can make Bloom Creative a more inclusive and accessible business, for not just employees and clients but also in the content created for the broader customer base.

We’re also excited to welcome Kate, more commonly known as Sway, a multi-talented marketing and content specialist, to the Bloom Creative freelance team.

“Multi-talented creative and content chameleon Sway joins us to support in content creation, copywriting and photography. Their passion for people, community, allyship, neurodiversity advocacy and more make them the perfect partners for Bloom Creative.”

Sway’s expertise spans copywriting, photography, and content creation, all underpinned by a passion for community, allyship, and neurodiversity advocacy. We couldn’t be happier to have them on board!

Sway joins Bloom Creative as a resident creative

2024 was a year of growth, connection, and purpose for Bloom Creative. We’re incredibly grateful to our team, clients, and community for making this year unforgettable. As we look to 2025, we’re excited to build on this momentum, continuing to support purpose-driven brands and fostering creativity in everything we do. The year has more courses, more accreditations and more conferences ahead.

As always, we are actively seeking freelancers to collaborate with, including opportunities to join as a resident creative; contact courtney@letsbloom.co.uk if this sounds like something for you.
