A new community for local creatives launches in Hull - Creative Hearts Club
Creative Hearts Club is a brand new and vibrant community for creative souls in Hull and East Yorkshire.
Founded by two local freelancers who were experiencing the isolating effects of working for yourself in the creative industries, Creative Hearts Club aims to be an inclusive, no-pressure way for creatives to meet-up, share experiences and - ultimately - make friends.
The club launched in March 2024 at Brew with an intimate coffee morning and coworking session for creatives:
“Our original idea was to host a small, low-key meetup where creatives could get together, chat and work in local, independent spaces,” says Courtney Farrow, Co-Founder of Creative Hearts Club, who runs digital content studio Bloom Creative.
“But, everything sort of snowballed from there. All the tickets for the second meetup were quickly snapped up and we ended up running out of chairs at Brew! It was at that point we realised that Creative Hearts Club was a much-needed event in the city.”
Emilie Beatrice, the other half of Creative Hearts Club and specialist in organic social media content creation adds:
“We want to create a community where there’s no pressure, no judgement, and no pretense - just genuine connection and support among fellow creatives.”
“Think meetups, socials, coworking days and creative sessions.”
Since launching, Creative Hearts Club has hosted four successful meetups at some of Hull’s most vibrant independent coffee shops and bars, including Brew, The Brain Jar and DiveHu5.
“The ‘no-business approach’ feels way different to most networking events and is a welcome change,” one Creative Hearts Club attendee enthuses.
“Everyone was really welcoming, and the environment was perfect. It’s a wonderful club for creatives in the area to get together, network and build friendships. 100% will be attending in the future,” another says.
One local business owner was particularly blown away by their first experience at Creative Hearts:
“I’m a solo business owner, and like most freelancers, I spend a lot of time in my own company, which can get quite lonely and repetitive. Attending CHC gave me a spring in my step after engaging in multiple relatable, inspiring and supportive conversations. What I loved was the ‘come as you are’ invitation - whether you’re heading out of the house for that event or popping by in the middle of your hectic day, show your face, have a cuppa and get a dose of human interaction.”
The pair have also hosted a Creative Content Day where a small group got together on Humber Street to snap each other’s professional photos and video content - a free opportunity for creatives who are trying to grow their brand and online presence on a budget:
“The Content Day was so much fun - I was so happy to go along. Open to all genders, outside and in between, they provide an inclusive space to talk, create content and vibe with other creative individuals. This meet-up wasn’t like any of those grey corporate ice breakers you would usually expect, but an informal, easy-going and fully transparent gathering of like-minded individuals.”
